Roll neck bearings carry heavy radial load at low speed in heat, water and scale. Large mills use multi-row roller bearings made to the mill builder's drawing. The drive line from motor to rolls needs gear couplings, spindle joints and reduction gearboxes that take shock when the bar bites. We list heavy-duty gear units, gear couplings and universal joints for mill drives.

Water and scale are the enemy of roll neck and gearbox bearings. Oil seals, O-rings and mechanical seals keep contamination out and lubricant in.
Foundation bolts, high-tensile bolts, studs and heavy hex nuts hold stands, housings and guides under vibration and shock.
Cooling water, scale and mill dust wash grease out and wear the raceways. Check seal condition at every roll change, keep lubrication lines clear and use the seal type the mill builder specifies.
Load spikes as each bar enters the stand. Bearings, couplings and gearboxes selected with no margin for shock fail early. State the mill type and duty so we can match the part to the load.
Heat from the roll and the process changes bearing fits and internal clearance. Use the clearance class and fit your mill builder or bearing maker specifies, not a plain standard-clearance bearing.
Backlash and misalignment in gear couplings and spindles send shock into the gearbox and bearings. Inspect and re-grease on schedule, and replace worn teeth in sets.
Grease points and oil levels are missed during busy shifts. A simple schedule and the right grease for temperature and water exposure add real bearing life.
