Adapter Sleeves, Explained
Adapter sleeves make it easy to mount tapered-bore self-aligning ball bearings, spherical roller bearings and cylindrical roller bearings on a plain shaft. The bearing can sit at any position along a smooth shaft, and mounting and dismounting are simple. They are commonly used together with plummer block housings.
Sleeves are available for metric and inch shafts. The tables list the metric range; ask us for inch sizes or any size not shown.

What is an adapter sleeve used for?
An adapter sleeve lets you mount a tapered-bore bearing on a plain, cylindrical shaft. The slotted sleeve is pushed onto the shaft, the bearing is placed over its taper, and a locknut pulls the bearing up the taper to grip the shaft. This avoids machining a tapered seat on the shaft.
How do I choose the right adapter sleeve?
Start from the bearing number. A tapered-bore bearing has a K in its number, for example 22210K, and its two-digit bore code sets the sleeve size: 22210K takes an H310 sleeve. Each series page lists which bearings the sleeves fit, and each size page lists the exact bearing numbers.
Does the sleeve come with a locknut?
A typical adapter sleeve assembly is a slotted sleeve, a locknut and a retaining plate. Tell us when you request a quote and we will confirm what is included for your brand.
