Spherical Plain Bearings, Explained

A spherical plain bearing lets a shaft swing through a small angle inside its housing, so it is used at pivots, linkages and joints where the two parts do not stay in line. The tables list the tilting angle for every size so you can check it against your application.

The series differ in width and tilting angle at the same bore: GEG bearings have a wider inner ring than GE, GEEW bearings have an inner ring as wide as the bore, and GEZ bearings are made in inch sizes. Sealed (-2RS) versions are listed where available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a spherical plain bearing?

A spherical plain bearing has an inner ring with a ball-shaped outer surface that sits in a matching hollow in the outer ring. Because the inner ring can tilt inside the outer ring, the bearing accepts angular misalignment between the shaft and the housing.

What does the tilting angle in the table mean?

It is the angle in degrees through which the inner ring can swing relative to the outer ring. A larger tilting angle allows more misalignment, so compare it with the misalignment in your application.

What does the -2RS suffix mean?

The -2RS suffix marks a bearing with a seal on both sides. Where a sealed version is listed, it is shown beside the open size in the table.

Do you supply sizes that are not in the table?

Yes. Send us the exact designation or the bore, outside diameter and width you need and we will confirm availability and pricing.

Can’t find your size?

We supply sizes, brands and special versions of spherical plain bearings that are not listed on this page. Type the exact size or designation you need and send it to us for a quote.
