About Spherical Roller Bearings

Spherical roller bearings have two raceways on the inner ring and one spherical raceway on the outer ring. The rolling elements have a spherical profile, so the bearing is self-aligning.

They carry heavy radial loads together with axial loads in both directions, and tolerate shaft misalignment — the standard choice for heavy, shock-loaded or poorly aligned applications.

  • Capable of carrying both radial loads and axial loads
  • Suitable for low and medium speed applications
  • Suitable for applications where some misalignment of the shaft can arise

Available Variants

  • Single row type — 202 series (details available on request)
  • Double row type — 213, 222, 223, 230, 231, 232, 239, 240, 241
  • Plain type — GE
  • With C2, CN, C3 and C4 radial clearance
  • Pressed steel or machined brass cage

Suffix Codes

Add these suffixes to the bearing number to specify clearance, cage and bore options.

SuffixMeaning
AModified internal design.
C2Radial internal clearance less than normal.
CNNormal radial internal clearance. Generally, no special suffix is used for normal radial internal clearance.
C3Radial internal clearance higher than normal.
C4Radial internal clearance higher than C3.
CPressed steel cage.
CAMachined brass cage, one-piece.
KTapered bore, with taper of 1:12.
K30Tapered bore, with taper of 1:30.
MBMachined brass cage, split type.
Q1–Q3Internal reference codes. Contact us for details.
W33Oil groove with oil holes in the outer ring.

Typical Applications

  • Crushers, vibrating screens and mining machinery
  • Steel mill and paper mill equipment
  • Gearboxes, fans and heavy pumps
  • Conveyors and general heavy industry

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes are available in the 230 series?

230 series bearings are available from 110mm – 500mm bore, as listed in the dimension table on this page. Each size has its own bearing number for ordering.

What load ratings apply to 230 bearings?

Dynamic and static load ratings vary by size — see the table for the exact rating per bearing number. Larger sizes carry proportionally higher load ratings.

What is the 230 series typically used for?

Common applications include crushers, vibrating screens and mining machinery and steel mill and paper mill equipment, and similar general industrial equipment.

Can spherical roller bearings handle shaft misalignment?

Yes. The spherical outer ring raceway makes the bearing self-aligning, so it tolerates misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing.

Can I order 230 series bearings with special options?

Yes. Many options are available — see the variants and suffix codes on this page — subject to design and manufacturing constraints. Share your requirement in a quote request.
