About these bearings
Matched-pair bearings are selected and ground together so that the preload and load sharing between the two bearings are controlled. They are used where a single bearing cannot give the stiffness or accuracy a spindle needs.
The mounting arrangement decides how the pair carries load: back-to-back for moment and axial load in both directions, face-to-face where some misalignment is expected, and tandem for heavy axial load in one direction.
