About Angular Contact Ball Bearings

Angular contact ball bearings are similar to deep groove ball bearings, but the line of contact between the balls and the raceways is at an angle in the radial plane, so they sustain combined radial and axial loads.

Single row bearings can also be used as a combination of two or more units — back-to-back (BTB), face-to-face (FTF) or tandem (TD) — for higher rigidity or load capacity.

  • Capable of carrying both axial and radial loads
  • Suitable for low, medium and high speed applications

Available Variants

  • Open basic design single and double row angular contact ball bearings
  • Sealed types
  • With snap ring groove
  • With snap ring groove and snap ring
  • Standard precision grade (ISO Grade 0 – ABEC1) for single and double row bearings
  • Standard as well as higher grades (P5 and P4) for single row bearings used in combination
  • Pressed steel, nylon fibre and brass cage

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes are available in the 79 series?

79 series bearings are available from 25mm – 150mm bore, as listed in the dimension table on this page. Each size has its own bearing number for ordering.

What load ratings apply to 79 bearings?

Dynamic and static load ratings vary by size — see the table for the exact rating per bearing number. Larger sizes carry proportionally higher load ratings.

What is the 79 series typically used for?

Common applications include machine tool spindles and precision equipment and pumps, compressors and gearboxes, and similar general industrial equipment.

What do the contact angle suffixes A, B and C mean?

C means a 15° contact angle, A means 30° and B means 40°. A larger angle gives higher axial load capacity but lower speed capability.

Can I order 79 series bearings with special options?

Yes. Many options are available — see the variants and suffix codes on this page — subject to design and manufacturing constraints. Share your requirement in a quote request.
